Anger Management - Substance Abuse
New Transitions is embarking on a new initiative to add to its current services. Anger Management, Conflict Resolution, and Substance Abuse services will be provided to individuals who are experiencing problems. The objective will be to educate individuals on how to effectively express their feelings in appropriate ways, how to identify triggers and warning signs that inappropriate behavior may be imminent, and how to express anger and remain in control.
Our Program will encourage participants to attend a 12-week cognitive behavioral anger management group treatment program, in an effort to improve communication, understanding, and education about strategies for controlling tempers and supportive re-enforcement of positive behavior. The groups are psycho-educational.
Each participant will be required to pay a $40.00 initial assessment fee (non-refundable) and a $50.00 subsequent fee per class thereafter for the twelve weekly sessions. All fees are paid on the day of the services.
The initial assessment will determine whether or not the perspective candidate has a problem with anger. The assessment will entail twenty-five questions that will require a response from the potential patient. Accumulative totals of 16 or more will indicate that there is a problem with anger. Therefore, persons scoring 16 or more on our assessment instrument will be defined as individuals having anger management problems and will therefore qualify as someone who is appropriate for our 12 week group session. For those individuals that are court ordered to attend the groups, monthly reports will be submitted to respective courts including attendance, participation and progress or lack thereof. The AMP is also open to individuals who self refer and all social services or medical providers.
